World eBook Fair

The World eBook Library, Project Gutenberg and others are offering free access to hundreds of thousands of eBooks until August 4, 2006.

As they state on the World eBook Fair web site:
"July 4th to August 4, 2006 marks a month long celebration of the 35th anniversary of the first step taken towards today's eBooks, when the United States Declaration of Independence was the first file placed online for downloading in what was destined to be an electronic library of the Internet.... Now these books are yours for personal use, free of charge, to keep for the rest of your lives."

Of course, Project Gutenberg and the library are ALWAYS FREE. So you may find that the fee World eBook Library usually charges for access is not a good deal. While there are a few eAudiobooks offered during the fair, there are not many, and most are computer voice readings (yuck). For more FREE audiobooks to download (read by professional actors), sign up to use the library's Downloadable Audiobooks.
